Toni Brown Sansevero__
The Profit Machine
AUTOR: Toni Brown Sansevero
Toni Brown Sansevero was born in 1946 in São
Paulo, Brazil. He graduated as an Engineer
with a Masters in Business Administration. In
1990 he was invited by the ABB head office to
restructure companies in Europe.
He arrived in Europe, bringing in his
luggage a secret to turnaround companies
into profitability. After a successful result in
ABB Spain, Toni’s fame, as restructurer,
resounded in Germany and Siemens
strongly courted him.
At the end of 90´s Siemens was having
problems in South America.Toni accepted the
huge challenge. The results in two different
factories, Colombia and Brazil, were even
more successful. He delivered two spectacular
turnarounds and eight years of profit in a row.
His next mission would be in Portugal. However, his boss decided on a last minute
change to an important factory in Germany,
and less than eight months later, Toni found
himself abruptly fired! In view of, and in
contrast to the results he had delivered so far,
the arguments presented by Siemens for this
action, were not convincing. Investigation
about the real reasons had to be taken to a
higher level. Moving to Madrid where the competion
had three factories, ethical reasons forced
him to plunge into the activity of writing. He found the necessary strength to restore
his reputation by writing a book describing
his view of what had happened in Germany. He ends The Profit Machine-Part I
Siemens and the Bribery, sending the book
to the top management of Siemens.
Toni faces important and actual issues like
mobbing, the retirement syndrome, and the
root causes of fraud in corporations. He openly
explains how his personal life and values were
impacted and how he confronted and
overcame them.
In the Part II- The Revelation - he will disclose
his secret to use profit as a strong weapon to
save jobs.

LEER UN FRAGMENTO: The Profit Machine
After less than eight months Toni met Dr. A, his boss, in Erlangen.
Dr. A was 40 years old, had recently joined the Siemens group, with
a background of purchasing before he escalated to top management.
They were both now working in Nurnberg so it sounded strange for
the meeting to be held in Erlangen, but Toni thought that it was the
follow-up meeting he had asked for while he was on a business trip
in Brazil. Several circumstances had delayed this meeting for
approximately two months. When they met, Dr. A treated Toni coldly,
with a forced smile that looked like he was hiding something.
The company in Nurnberg was losing a lot of money and needed a
revolution to turnaround the result. Toni found that he was in a nest of
vipers. He was trying desperately to change two managers who had
participated in the creation of the status quo. He knew he was in a
minefield, making enemies in every direction he turned. Sustainable
changes in an organization where the status quo had been a holy
tradition for a long time would inevitably create conflicts and enemies.
Toni was taking too great a risk, allowing his boss to be fed by his
enemies during the last two months. Everybody knew he wanted to
radically change the product, process and people.
